Lesson 4 is posted. I have become aware that the animation in powerpoint does not survive the uploading process. I will be searching for a different way to upload files so that problem doesn't continue.
See you Tuesday!

Suggested Reading for Ground Lesson 2
This lesson will cover Aircraft Systems and Flight Instruments. The material has always been interesting to me, but then, I tend to be the nerd. :) I try to keep this to a minimum, and if you do not read it before class, it will not hurt you, but it may help.
Suggested Reading:
Aircraft Systems
Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge
6-1 - 6-10; Reciprocating Engines, Carburetors, Carburetor Ice, Propellers
6-14; Ignition System
6-26; Engine Cooling System
6-25 - 6-26; Fuel Systems
6-28; Electrical Systems
Flight Instruments
Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge
7-1 - 7-11; Pitot-Static Instruments
7-15 - 7-20; Gyroscopic Instruments
7-22 - 7-26; Magnetic Compass

Suggested Reading for Ground Lesson 1
I will post some suggested reading for each lesson. The reading is not required, but will go into more depth than I am able to cover in class.
From the Airplane Flying Handbook:
Chapter 4 deals with Stalls and Spins. Specifically pages 4-3 through 4-14
From the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge:
3-4 through 3-10; Bernoulli/Lift
4-1 through 4-22; 4 forces in flight, wingtip vortices, ground effect, stability, forces in turns
5-1 through 5-8; flight controls

Downloads
I have a link to download the powerpoint from the ground lessons on the right hand side bar. There is also a link to two FAA publications. The FAA doesn't provide a link for the whole document in one piece, so the link is to the page that has the links to each chapter.
I will be posting some suggested reading later.

Beginning Flight Training
Welcome to everyone who is interested in flight training! This blog is intended to be a place for me to share aviation with those who are interested, and allow pilots to ask questions to further their knowledge.
For those who are in my ground school class, this is where information about the class will be posted.
Thanks for reading, and I hope we can enjoy the journey.
